Lynn Stanier MBE is the Founder and Chief Executive of Their Future Today (TFT), an international charity working to end the institutionalisation of children in Sri Lanka and promote family-based care.
Following the 2004 Asian tsunami, Lynn left behind a successful career in the travel industry after witnessing the devastating conditions faced by children living in orphanages. What began as humanitarian support evolved into a 21-year mission to transform the lives of thousands of vulnerable children and families.
Under Lynn’s leadership, TFT has become a recognised voice in childcare reform, developing solution-based programmes focused on family strengthening, early learning, education, livelihoods, community and care leaver support, and alternative family and foster care. Her work has helped influence national discussions around childcare reform in Sri Lanka, bringing together government, UNICEF, NGOs, and international experts to support the transition from institutional care to family-based care systems.
Lynn has been honoured with an MBE by Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for services to vulnerable children and families in Sri Lanka, and received the prestigious Deshabandu national meritorious honour in Sri Lanka for humanitarian service. She is also a passionate speaker and advocate for social impact, systems change, ethical leadership, and the power of purpose-driven investment to create long-term societal transformation.
Through courage, persistence, and an unwavering belief that “children need families, not orphanages,” Lynn continues to inspire audiences globally with a story of compassion turned into action.
